3/3 llegar a ser "to become"

this week was AMAZING. saturday was my favorite day of the mission so far.
i dont even want to try to explain this week in an email...because there just aren´t words. but im going to do it anyway.

we have a new district leader...and he´s super super awesome! the other day in district meeting he talked to us about becoming. he asked us what we want to become in the mission. in spanish the word "to become" is "llegar a ser". and the word "llegar" literally means to arrive. so basically we have to leave where we are now to become what we want to be. super cool huh? yeah i love spanish.

on saturday we taught hugo...our golden investigator. i will never, ever forget that lesson. the spirit was so strong...i don´t know that i´ve ever felt the spirit that strong in my whole life. we taught him the gospel of jesus christ and the word of wisdom. as soon as we were done talking about faith, hugo was like "i´ve been thinking a lot, and i know i need to be baptized. so that´s what i´m going to do." and then i was like "yeah? why do you need to be baptized? why do you want to be baptized?" and he was like "because i want to be pure." and then i was like "well baptism is the only way that you can purifiy yourself. it´s the only way. through baptism, we are born again and ALL of our sins are washed away." and he was like "when can i be baptized?" it was really awesome. and the spirit was so strong. when we started teaching him about the word of wisdom and he told us he has problems with drinking and smoking. but he was like "i´m going to stop. my life has no direction right now and i want to stop. i´ve been waiting for this." it´s so awesome to see his desires to change and follow christ. hermana bennett and i have been praying for hugo like crazy. he loves the book of mormon and he loves the church. im so so so grateful for the opportunity i have to teach him and help him progress. i want him to have what i have and im so excited that he wants it too. after our lesson with hugo, hermana bennett and i were walking home and i was just SO happy. i don´t know that i´ve ever experienced that kind of happiness. its a happiness that doesn´t come in any other way. and a happiness that i want forever. it´s times like that that i remember why i´m here in chile.

hermana bennett and i have been working so so so hard this week. our numbers were higher than they have ever been. and i know it was because we have seriously been talking to every single person. im really grateful for hermana bennett and her example to me. i hope one day im a missionary like her! im really excited to keep working just as hard this week. and invite even more people to come unto christ. i love this gospel. i know that it´s true. without any doubt.
i love you all so much! thanks for being the best family EVER! have a awesome week! con amor, hermana steele
