hola hola!

this week has been really awesome! we taught a ton of less active members this week. i seriously love the less active members so much! with all my heart. there aren´t words to describe my love for these members. there´s a quote that grandma steele sent me that i love that says  "the love in your heart wasn´t put there to stay. love isn´t love till it´s given away". how true that is.

also, i´ve been thinking a lot this week about our potential. and my potential as a missionary. i remember my first day in the mission president rappley told me that i proabably didn´t come to chile to be a good missionary. i came to be a great one. and i´ve been thinking about how God sees our potential. he sees the final destination! he knows what kind of missionary im going to be in 18 months. like caterpillars becoming butterflies. this is how i have to think about my investigators. that right now they are caterpillars, but one day they will be butterflies. there´s another quote that i love that says "they are sons and daughters of god, they just don´t know it yet. we are trying to teach them." haha and thats exactly what im doing here in chile. teaching the people of caupolican that they are sons and daughters of god. how great is my calling!!! 

i hope you had a great birthday mom. i love you so so much! thanks for all you have done for me, and all you still do for me every single day. i will never be able to thank you enough. say happy birthday to cosy for me too!!

so i read somewhere the other day that families like to hear the random stuff from their missionaires...so i thought i would send you a really random email today...ready set go...

yeah so i have fleas. haha its pretty funny but it kinda stinks. i dont have them very bad yet buuuttt yeah! its pretty much just like my whole body itches all the time. especially my legs.

ive realized some of my favorite smells in life are sunscreen & freshly chopped firewood.

im craving BBQ chicken pizza, a hamburger from zinburger, and moms mint brownies. im also craving to watch the movies cars, finding nemo, and peter pan.

president rappley said thanks for the mints. he said they were really good.

like 3 people now have asked me if im from brazil. and 2 people have asked me if im from germany...haha they just know im not from chile.

i´ve almost got attacked by 3 dogs now. its really really scary.

and that is my random email for the week...i´ll be sending the more uplifiting one soon.

This gospel is all about change! Shout out to the Hales and Merrill families!

remember last week how i said i love my trails? yeah well i still do but this last week had been pretty hard. one day i had to walk upstairs to my bedroom and i just fell on my knees and pleaded with the lord to help me get through the day. i know that heavenly fathers knows that i can only grow and learn and become stronger through my trails. but its hard because i want to be able to speak spanish perfectly right now and be a perfect teacher/missionary right now. there should never ever be just two options: perfection or giving up. i got a letter from elder hawkes the other day and he said that life is kinda like a word document. we have to click "save changes" and learn from our mistakes. i´ve learned out here in the mission that this gospel is all about change. that´s why we have the atonement. repentance is about changing to become better! i love talking about repentance in lessons and explaining that we have repentance to better ourselves and that repentance isn´t a bad thing. and telling people that god doesn´t expect us to be perfect. it´s awesome. i remember one of the first emails mom sent me in the MTC...she said "we cannot attain perfection in this life but that doesn´t mean we can´t strive for it." i truely need my savior every hour. in the good times and in the bad times. and he promises me that he will not forsake me.

so the past few days hermana bennett and i have been talking to EVERYONE. and we´ve been knocking on a lot of doors. and it´s been so awesome! i love it! at the end of the day i feel super great because i know i have fufilled my purpose as a missionary...to invite ALL to come unto christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel.

Christmas Day!

2014 Goals!

YAY SYD GOT A JOB!!! how fun! i´m super excited for you!

how was Utah!? i loved all the pictures! thank you thank you! did everyone get what they wanted for christmas? haha did you get your car syd? and izzy your guitar? tell abi that i love her and that she made the best decision she will ever make in this life by getting baptized into the church of jesus christ. and now she has the holy ghost with her as her best friend. as we say here in chile...bacan!

so we have this investigator right now and she´s amazing. we met her my second week here in la union. we contacted her in the street and when we started talking about the BOM she told us she has a BOM and reads it every night! so we asked her where she was reading and she told us alma. she wants to be baptized and she knows she needs to be! the other day she told us she loves when we visit her because it makes her feel good. we know that that´s because she feels the spirit when we are teaching her truth. when we first met her she was a different person. her countance is so much different now. you can physically see the difference when you look in her eyes. even the feeling when we walk into her house is different from the first time we taught her. and she´s learning so fast and she´s super receptive to everything! that´s not because we are good teachers or because she´s smart. it´s because the holy ghost is testifying of the truth of this gospel to her heart. its been super cool to see the spirit work through her and change her. 

as the new year has started i´ve made some goals! i do have specific goals for this year but my ultamite goal is to become more like my savior Jesus Christ. and "the best way to make a permanent change for good is to make Jesus Christ your model and His teachings your guide for life." -Elder Richard G. Scott. im so grateful for my savior and for his perfect example for us all. this year i´m memorizing "The Living Christ" in english and in spanish! it´s been awesome because whenever i´m walking in the street i say the parts that i know and i´m reminded of my Savior and His perfect life. i know it´s helped me to have more faith in Him...which is another one of my goals.
